3 tips to prepare for your branding session
Planning for your Branding Photography session is crucial to the session’s success as well as helping elevate the “day of” stress.
Prior to all Simply Curate & Co sessions we will have several emails, a phone call (or two), complete a planning sheet and possibly some text communication to ensure your session goes off without a hitch.
Before our first branding session, I want to walk all clients through the process to ensure:
i) They know what to expect from our team
ii) They know how the session will flow
iii) What they can expect after the session
Here are 3 tips to help you prepare for your next Branding Session to make it a success:
Prepare & plan
This is such a crucial step in our branding session process. After we discuss your photography requirements in our initial communication we will set up a time for our official planning phone call. During our planning phone call we will review our custom Simply Curate & Co planning sheet.
Our planning sheet helps clients organize their wishes/requirements/desired poses/shots/notes/to do’s all while organizing and prepping for the session.
2. Outfits
There are several things to keep in mind for your session outfits.
First and foremost - do they suit your desired Brand look? I recommend choosing items from your closet or purchasing new pieces that coordinate or have pops of your brand colour(s).
Other things to keep in mind while choosing outfits for your branding photoshoot:
Review how many outfits you will have time for during the session
Iron/steam all outfits (wrinkles can be seen on camera)
Whites/Creams/Neutrals are timeless and a perfect option for ALL clients regardless of their career/session style
Choose items that you feel comfortable and confident in
Accessories - such a necklaces, earrings, watches, nail polish, rings, etc are a great way to add extra style & pops of variation (There will be close up of fingers/nails.)
3. Props
Props are essential and make your session more personal.
Whether we are capturing a session in a client home, an airbnb, a rental property, your home or a studio there are several items I recommend bringing along to all sessions:
i) Your phone & laptop
ii) A notebook and a nice pen
iii) Your tools (artist - paint brushes, doctor - stethoscope, designer - floor plan/samples, etc)
iv) Extra props to add personalization - items that you enjoy : wine, books, essential oils, coffee, pillows/decor, croissants, plants or flowers, etc
We will also review prop ideas that suit your business in our planning call.
I hope these suggestions help get you started thinking about your first branding session.
Now onto the important step -- what month are we getting together?
