What is the difference between a Branding session and a Headshot photo?

A branding session shows the CEO/Creator/Owner behind the brand, tells a story and shows your why. Basically, it’s a collection of custom images that represent and tell more about your brand to the viewer. They are lifestyle in nature and include you “in” your business. A brand session is meant to provide you with a gallery of content to utilize over your various marketing channels.

A headshot is just that. A headshot. Usually shot from the mid-chest up and tight on the face and mostly used for actors and other creatives and business bios for larger corporations.


How far in advance should I book?

As soon as possible - but seriously, it’s never too early! If you have a business that’s just starting or have been in business for 10 years - now is the time to capture professional photos to make your business stand out.

For timing, I recommend connecting 2-3 months in advance to allow for planning time. (Ex. time to secure locations, coordinate outfits, schedule hair and makeup appointments, get props etc.)


How much retouching will you do?

My retouching is natural and I love to show people (and their beautiful faces) as true to life as possible.

My general rule is - if it was not something that is there normally (pimple, lint, random pencil on floor) it will be removed. Everything else will stay!


Do you recommend we get hair and make up done?

I believe hair and make up are a personal thing but who doesn't feel amazing after a trip to the salon for a blow out or a professional beat from a makeup artist?

If your goal is to show an elevated version of you during your session, hair and make up are a GREAT addition.

If you are looking for a casual, relaxed vibe - a little extra self applied mascara and lip colour may be perfect.

I will lead you through the session with helpful suggestions and saying silly things to get that natural smile.

The sessions are easy going, relaxed and meant to celebrate you and your business - it will be a great day.


What location do you recommend?

Location is one of the most important aspects of your session and a topic that I love talking about during our Vision call.

There we’ll be able to review your type of business and photography/content goals and then I will be able to suggest a few locations to best suit your desired outcome.


Where can I use the photos?

You can use them for your website, social media platforms, e-marketing/newsletters, press releases, print & e-marketing collateral and as a bio photo for interviews, speaking engagements and podcasts interviews.

There is a standard license agreement for your business in our contract agreement. If there’s a need for 3rd party usage/licensing (any company/business/contractor/vendor other than the business in our contract agreement), you must connect with Simply Curate & Co to obtain a quote for image licensing.
